Construction Details

HSI severe duty, cast-iron centrifugal exhausters are now manufactured by Houston Service Industries.  Units range in size up to 25,000 icfm for vacuum levels under 13" Hg.   They provide for clean, dry, pulsation free flow at relatively low noise levels.

All HSI exhausters are designed and manufactured to exacting tolerances and manufactured according to ISO 9002 standards. 

The exhausters feature cast aluminum one piece impellers that are both statically and dynamically balanced to ensure absolute mechanical integrity.  Minimal clearances are maintained to achieve the highest possible mechanical efficiency.

A set of impellers are securely locked and keyed to a hot rolled steel shaft to comprise a rotor.  Intermediate sections are firmly bound together between the inlet and the outlet by strong steel rods to comprise the housing.  The rotor is the operative component and the only moving part in the machine.

The rotor is supported at each end by out-board bearings in cast housings that dissipate heat and provide for easy maintenance.  Seals are non-contact, non-wearing labyrinth type, machined to remarkably close tolerances.

Lubrication is available in grease or oil formats, and normally continuous operation requires a lubrication schedule of just minutes every two to three months.  These units are exceptionally tolerant of neglect!

  • Exceptional Service Life  Many exhausters are still running 40 years after being put into service.  The rugged cast iron housing and cast impellers stand up to tough operating conditions
