A relatively new design, this pump has revolutionized the vacuum truck industry, and is now beginning to be used in central vacuum systems. The SIAV uses a tri-lobe impeller (see Figure 2, below). Tri-lobes are more efficient because they have two sealing edges rather than one; however, to achieve to same volumetric throughput as a comparable size dual-lobe, tri-lobe machines have to be run faster. They are designed for heavy industrial use, and feature a 5 bearing design, and a large oil reservoir. These pumps are the best available. There are 5 sizes available. The SIAV 8702 with a 300 Hp. motor can achieve an incredible 2400 icfm @ 27" Hg. With an 8" hose, that will move a lot of product! These machines eliminate the need for cooling water, sealing water, and heat exchangers required with competitive systems. They have the drawback of requiring a second silencer for the air intake chamber which provides the cooling effect. Special Features
These systems are used where high material conveying rates are required with very long piping systems. For smaller systems, or for very hot material, use a liquid ring vacuum pump instead.
