The collection canister is 4.0 cu. ft. or about half a 55 gallon drum.  The can is raised up to mate with a rubber seal via a heavy duty cam mechanism attached to a heavy duty handle.  The dirt can drops down onto its own set of 2 inch swivel roller casters.

The handle is limited in its travel by heavy stops, and it can take serious abuse. But it’s not invincible, and that’s why we make all parts of the lifting mechanism fully adjustable, and easily removable.

A vacuum equalization kit is available (costs just US$150.00 extra) and allows the dirt can to accept a disposable PVC liner. This is an especially useful (necessary) option for those customers using the DuroVac for picking up fine powers.  This eliminates any mess caused when disposing of the contents of a full canister.  The operator simply draws together the liner and lifts it out for easy, fast and safe disposal.

There are many ways to augment the storage capacity of the system. One of the most popular options is the transfer lid.  This item converts a heavy duty 55 gallon drum into a pre-separator.  Attached in-line before the main system unit, it "knocks out" about 90% of material before it even gets to the DuroVac.  

A pre-separator of some sort is always required if the material to be picked up is very heavy: a full dirt can of steel dust for example weighs over 1000 lb.   A drum with a transfer lid may be placed on a pallet, so it can be handled by lift truck.  A transfer lid costs just US$250.00 including a 10 ft length of connection hose.

The other popular way to augment the storage is to use a sealed self-tipping hopper.  They also act as a pre-separator but feature storage capacities from  ¾ cu. yd. (20 cu ft.) to 2.0 cu. yd. (54 cf.)  Prices range from just US$1800.00 for the ¾ cy. to $3000.00 for the 2.0 cy. unit.  Prices include 10 ft of interconnection hose. Optional 6" heavy duty casters cost US$190.00 / set.
