How Tariffs Apply to Industrial Vacuum Equipment

Tanya Decarie
Understand how tariffs impact industrial vacuum equipment and why most DuroVac systems qualify for exemptions under CUSMA/USMCA, helping deliver predictable costs and seamless cross-border purchasing.

As a company proudly headquartered in Canada with sales reps stationed across North America, we naturally get questions about cross-border deliveries and order fees. We understand the need for clear, reliable answers, especially in times of uncertainty.

The vast majority of DuroVac industrial vacuum systems are supported under the Canada‑United States‑Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) and qualify for tariff exemptions under their HTS classification.

Also known as USMCA, CUSMA is a free trade agreement between the US, Mexico, and Canada. The agreement modernizes and replaces NAFTA to cover a wide range of provisions, including duty-free preferential treatment for qualifying goods imported from Canada.

We do our homework and work closely with brokers and customers to provide proper documentation, predictable costs, and cross-border confidence. With happy and long-standing customers such as SASE Company, Fluid Engineering Inc., and American Vacuum, we maintain strong cross-border relationships with US-based companies.

“Following a recent gathering with partners across North America, it was clear that our brand promise of ‘delivering famously tough vacuums to make your whole team happy’ transcends borders, nationality, and politics,” says Anh-Tai Vuong, CEO, DuroVac. “Our people and our network do the hard work to find solutions for tough industrial environments.”

Our guiding principles remain unchanged:

Act with clarity and integrity

Be fair to our customers and partners

Protect the business thoughtfully, not reactively

To deliver on that promise, we remain focused on plant safety, productivity, and helping our customers improve their ROI. That commitment extends beyond our equipment to our team, who make it their mission to ensure the ordering experience is seamless for you — no matter where you are in North America.

We hope this provides clarity and confidence as our U.S. customers evaluate industrial vacuum solutions to keep their facilities productive and safe. Feel free to contact us if you have additional questions about cross-border purchases, we're here to help.
